EPP Granule Storage for the Plastics Industry

As part of its expansion, a major player in the plastics industry has invested three million euros to install a fourth extrusion line at its factory in Mouzon, in the Ardennes region. The aim of this strategic investment was to increase production capacity while exploring new markets. With this addition to its storage capacity, the client can now produce expanded polypropylene sheets and rolls (EPP) with great responsiveness. This new tool enables it to respond effectively to the growing needs of a constantly evolving sector.

The customer’s challenge

A specific need for storing PPEA pellets

Increased production capacity highlighted a new logistical challenge. Storing PPEA pellets, which are essential to the extrusion process, required a modern and tailored solution. The equipment chosen had to guarantee optimal protection of the raw materials while ensuring rapid installation, flexibility and cost-effectiveness. Logistical protection of PPEA pellets is essential to maintain their quality and integrity, especially in a demanding industrial environment.

The handling solution provided by Syvrac

To meet the customer’s needs, Syvrac proposed a solution based on flexible fabric silos specially designed for the storage of plastic pellets. This modern equipment has established itself as an efficient and economical alternative to traditional metal silos. Flexible fabric silos are a major innovation in the field of industrial packaging, offering a flexible and durable solution for the storage of lightweight and rigid materials such as PPEA.

Flexible fabric silos, a solution from Syvrac, a perfect innovation for the plastics industry.
Silos offer numerous advantages.
Flexible fabric silos have several key benefits.
Optimal protection for granules.
The silos are made from high-quality polyester, protecting the granules from moisture, external contamination and electrostatic charges, thereby guaranteeing consistent raw material quality. The silos’ moisture resistance and antistatic properties ensure optimal logistical protection.

  • Quick and flexible installation
The lightweight structures do not require heavy construction work and can be installed quickly. In addition, their modularity allows them to be easily adapted to changing production needs. The flexible silos are foldable and tear-resistant, making them easy to transport and install.

  • Competitive cost and high durability
Less expensive to purchase and maintain than metal silos, this equipment provides an economical solution without compromising on robustness. Flexible silos are reusable and 100% recyclable, making them an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution.

  • Compatibility and versatility
Flexible silos are compatible with a wide variety of granules, such as PPEA, ABS and PVC. They are also food-grade and sterilisable, making them suitable for a variety of industrial applications.

  • Advanced properties
Flexible silos can be printed on, allowing for easy identification of stored materials. They are also chemically inert, UV-resistant and fireproof, offering additional protection against environmental and industrial hazards.

    Efficient and safe installation

Syvrac designed special supports for the switches and used work platforms for safe installation to ensure smooth and secure installation. This method reduced installation time while ensuring efficient distribution of materials in the silos. The flexible fabric silos are also dissipative (ESD), making them ideal for environments sensitive to electrostatic discharge.

    The results of this solution

By installing flexible silos, the customer benefits from the following advantages:

    • Secure storage of PPEA granules
Adapted to the requirements of their business, flexible silos offer optimal logistical protection and guarantee both the quality and integrity of the pellets.

    • Simplified logistics
Flexible silos facilitate logistics loops and improve operational efficiency, offering smooth management of raw material flows.
    • Continuous and reliable supply
Flexible silos ensure a constant and reliable supply, which is essential for maintaining production rates and supporting increased production.
